Messy Marbling

As the weather is being particularly lovely up north at the moment, I thought I’d borrow my parents’ garden for some fumey art experiments!

Nail polish paper marbling was the mission. Never attempted, few instructions, but eagerly anticipated.

I filled an old plastic box with water and began throwing in dribbles and drops of nail polish…

I then had to trial and error the best paper types, and dunking method for getting the polish to stick to said papers. Sometimes… (A lot of the time!)… It still relied heavily on luck for all variables to come together at once in harmony!

But no other materials were needed, except somewhere to dry the papers. A washing line is perfect.

A few of the duds…

Along with some of the successes…

Going to try oil paint marbling next!
